Music Curriculum

The International School of Choueifat – Erbil Music Department offers students in grades 2 to 7 a context to develop their understanding and love of music and arts in various forms.

Students mainly use the “Let’s Read & Write Music” music book and workbook based on the Kodaly method, which is considered highly structured, developmental, and sequential.

The primary goal of this method is to help every student to become musically literate through learning practices associated with folk music tradition, classical music, and oriental music.

Music Performances

Our talented students get the opportunity to showcase their music and arts talents at several school events and celebrations, particularly in the annual music concert attended by parents.

The concert songs and voice-overs are recorded in our professional studio with sound FX, which is also used to record different activities at the school.

Music Activities

Our Music Department organizes different activities, which fall into two main categories:

  1. Open music: Students have the opportunity to express themselves freely and showcase their talents through live events and choirs, singing, playing instruments, beatboxing, and dancing
  2. After-school activities and clubs: Students in grades 2-4 can join after-school music classes to learn how to play musical instruments such as the guitar, piano, violin, etc. Music clubs are also available for students in grades 5-12.
